Not such a Merry Christmas...

While I really, really want to be optimistic, it's hard to. The kids were sick again last night, as they have been. Sophie, upon getting out of (our) bed to wake Bryce for Santa, ran to the bathroom to vomit for the 3rd (or is it 4th) night/morning in a row.

Off and on today, they've gone from playing to literally running out of steam and needing remedication.

Sophie really hasn't eaten. Bryce has barely eaten.

Sophie laid on the couch a couple of hours ago. When she woke, her temp was 102.9. I checked Bryce's, who was also napping, and it was 102.

Sophie has had a couple of really bad coughing spells that sort of scared me. I'm sure that her throat and body hurts from all the coughing.

Plain and simple, the flu is a HORRID virus. It's evil. It's darn near sucked the joy and life out of my babies' Christmas, and it makes me ANGRY.

We were blessed to still go to Grammy's house (who very likely has the SAME thing), and my sweet mother BRAVED this germy house (after I sprayed as many surfaces as I could with Lysol before she came over).

The kids were spoiled like mad and love their things, and both of our moms were more than generous to all four of us, which touches me given I know how tight things are.

I was sad that the kids couldn't REALLY enjoy the Wii like I thought they would. "Just Dance" was one I thought FOR SURE would have everyone giggling. After half of one song, my chest was hurting and the kids were just sitting there, so I turned it off.

However, Bryce and I really liked playing baseball, and I kicked Chris' butt in bowling. Chris and Bryce seemed to have a good time playing Mario Kart.

As far as the two of us go, me and Chris, I still have fever around the clock pretty much, but it's down to 99, at least. My problem is the cough, which is normal for the "layers" of the flu. My neck and throat feel tight and swollen (much like it has when I've had strep), but I'm hoping/guessing it's from the coughing.

Chris, on the other hand, is, I believe, at the beginning of the cycle. He started feeling a little "off" a couple of days ago. Then he started to cough. Then the fever came. Today, alone, I've watched him suffer with chills and a throat so sore he can barely talk. His temp has been around 101 all day.

So, yeah. We've had better holidays. However, we're still safe in our home and warm with the people we love.

...and one can't forget that, despite the fact that we've all been sick, WE GOT SNOW ON CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful, sweet little flakes that you could easily see if you stopped a minute to watch it fall to a dark surface. They were so intricate and delicate and gorgeous little crystals as they fell. It snowed all day. It didn't stick, but still... it snowed... ON CHRISTMAS.
