Bryce said... and a promise for Advent pictures!

I fully plan to participate in my advent photos again this year... I just need to take a few minutes to do it.

Quickly, though, so I don't forget...

The kids went to see Santa last night. Sophie asked politely for "all the Kindergarten and First-Grader Junie B. Jones books" and Bryce asked for "Stinky the Garbage Truck."

Easy, right?

Tonight when picking out books to read, I chose "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie."

I sat there for a minute and then said to Bryce, "Guess what? You forgot to ask Santa to bring you the little mouse* you've been talking about getting from him."

His eyes immediately filled with tears. His lip rolled down.

"How will he know? Now he's not gonna know!!!"

I sat there for a minute feeling really bad about bringing it up and then said, "Well, baby, guess what happened when you were looking at the pictures you guys took with Santa - he came over to me and whispered into my ear that he's been listening and watching you and knew that you wanted that little mouse. He told me that he realized you'd forgotten to mention it, but wanted to tell me that he knew already."

The tears faded and a smile gingerly came over his sweet little face.

"He did?"

I smiled really big and had to heartily reassure my sweet boy that Santa knew that he wants that little mouse for Christmas.

I'm so glad I was on my toes with that one!!!




*He saw the plush version of the mouse from "If You Give A Mouse..." at Barnes and Noble around Halloween and FELL IN LOVE.
