I’ve had so much on my plate lately that finding the time to simply record my thoughts has even proven to be a challenge. I can’t let that happen with my journaling, though. Writing allows me to remember when things get hectic and I forget to take those mental snapshots.
That said, shall we carry on?
Bryce ~ I didn’t journal last week about his progress with preschool. He didn’t shed a single tear last week. In fact, it was almost odd at how he suddenly wore this badge of courage. On the way to school, he’d tell me repeatedly on the way, “I’m not crying yet!”
We developed a good routine of him watching out of the window for me as I left the building to go to school. Last Thursday, I told him to watch to see me do something silly. When I got to my car, anyone watching out of the windows or returning to the parking lot after dropping their child off got to watch me wiggle my tail and turn circles for my (hopefully giggling) child watching me leave.
Me ~ School is chugging along. I have my first midterm tomorrow night (already!) and I’m quite nervous because of the 3 classes I have this semester, this is the one that the terminology will have me stumbling. While I’m quite comfortable with the computer and Windows and Microsoft Office, being tested on the official terminology of those things will likely have my anxiety at an all-time high. I’m just hoping for the best.
Let’s see… what else is up with me? I had to have another colposcopy done on Friday. I began to ask my doctor about why on earth I’m having irregular Pap smears over and over, yet a consistently negative HPV status. You see, it’s very, very rare to have cervical dysplasia or cancer without a positive HPV status. Why on earth my Pap smears keep coming back showing dysplasia, let alone one that read as “cannot rule out high grade” is puzzling to not only me, but to her, as well. She said, “I want to get to the bottom of this!” The appointment was overall pretty amusing as I tend to be silly when I’m nervous. I encouraged her to be as aggressive as she needed to because I tolerate stuff like that pretty well, and, well, if anything in there looked suspicious, I wanted her to sample it, send it off, and really and truly “get to the bottom of it.” I need answers! If it comes back as a high-grade lesion, we’ll likely move forward with a LEEP procedure. If it’s anything beyond that, well, we’ll talk about that if/when it happens. Anything less, and we’ll just monitor it. I should know something mid week.
Sophie is doing really well in school. The girl rarely makes less than a 100 on her papers and tests and is just really thriving. This week is Spirit Week at her school. They go hand-in-hand with Homecoming Week with the high school. It’s just a fun way to get the kids excited and to show support for their school. Today was “Horrible Hair” day.
Later this week, she’ll get to go to school in her PJs, dressed as an old lady, and a few others. Fun fun fun!!!!
She just seems to be getting so big lately… I sometimes feel “homesick” for her younger days. It’s like I blinked and missed something. When I look at her, it’s so strange how my heart struggles with how I still feel she’s my baby, yet there’s this big KID staring back at me. Her features have changed so much recently with her adult smile coming on in and her freckles and such… She’s such a sweet and silly girl, though. She makes me really proud.
Oh, and one quick “Sophie said” before I’m done – I was putting on some of my “Heavenly” from Victoria Secret the other day and squirted her in fun. She said, “HEY!!! I smell like an old lady now!”
*gasp*
