Junonia coenia

Well friends, we have a CHRYSALIS!!!!!!!! Or a pupa, whichever you prefer... but how FUN is "chrysalis" to say out loud?

I really wish we would've taken a picture of our friend before it underwent the miraculously fast transformation from hanging J-shaped motionless caterpillar to coccoon.

For ease of journaling, I'm calling our little pupa a "he".

Here's what he looked like when we found him:

And here's what he will look like in about a week:

Here's what we're keeing him in:

I found his friends inchworm-A and inchworm-B this morning!

Day 1 (yesterday) of his transformation

And today, day 2, of his transformation - a little darker

Can you tell I'm excited??? It's so amazing to stop and witness little miracles like this... and to think of how often they happen all around us!
